Looking after your clothes while you travel

Simple garment-care habits for travel: pack delicate clothes thoughtfully, unpack on arrival and carry a stain wipe for fresh spills away from home.

The clothes you pack for a trip are chosen with care: the dress for the first dinner, the linen shirt for the long lunch, the jacket for the flight home. They deserve the same care once you're away.

A few small habits keep them looking as you intended, from the first day to the last.

Pack outfits, not pieces

Plan each day's look before you pack. You'll carry less, and every piece will have a reason to be there.

Give delicate pieces their own space

Fold silk and fine knits in tissue paper, or keep them in a cotton garment bag. Put heavier items at the bottom of the case so lighter fabrics sit on top.

Unpack on arrival

Hang everything as soon as you check in. Creases relax overnight, and a steamy bathroom after a shower helps soften the rest.

Keep worn and fresh apart

A separate laundry bag keeps worn pieces away from the ones you haven't worn yet. It also makes packing for home quicker.

Carry a stain wipe in your carry-on

Travel is full of good moments: coffee at the airport, wine with dinner, a long lunch by the water. A stain wipe means none of them changes what you're wearing for the rest of the day.

Pocket Wipes began on the road. On our travels we found individually wrapped, single-use stain wipes, and they were impossible to find at home. So we made our own, designed to belong in a handbag and not be hidden.

Each wipe is sealed in its own 2–3 mm sachet, slim enough for a passport sleeve. It stays fresh for up to 24 months and is fragrance free. It's made for fresh coffee, red wine, sauce and light makeup marks on cotton, linen, wool and silk. Always patch test first.

Stay with the trip

The best part of travelling well isn't the packing. It's arriving ready, then forgetting about your clothes entirely, and giving your attention to the view, the meal and the people with you.

Always prepared. Nothing to explain.
